The Honey Trees

Welcome one and all, and prepare for an overflow of lush photos and lovely music. Today's musical artistry is my last of the local bands. I have no doubts that some of you have come across this duo in your internet browsing. Their music and photos have quite the growing fan base. Meet... The Honey Trees.

This gorgeous duo is made up of musicians, Becky Filip and Jacob Wick. They play many local shows and I have seen them a time or two. Their music is incredibly soothing, and their photos are simply magical.

Gahhh! Can they be any more adorable!
Well, you can find them on all of the usual places, itunes, myspace, facebook, etc. Also, Becky is an incredible artist, and one of my personal artistic inspirations. She has designed album art for a few bands including her own.

You can also find prints of her art for sale on her etsy shop. I am hoping to add her prints to my wall some day soon. So, there really is nothing more to say. I will leave you with a last video.

A bit of local trivia: This video was filmed in the home of my friend Ben, of the Sassafras Union (from last post). Well my dear friends, I hope you enjoyed my favorite artists from my area. I am sure there are others that will find there way here eventually, but that is it for now(locally, that is). And, as always, I would love to hear about what you are listening to!

Sassafras and Briertone

I know that it is no longer monday, but here is my music post for the week.
We have such great talent here in my area and I love sharing it with people! This past Friday I went to a concert at a local Brewery. A few local bands played their music and to keep with my local music scene theme I will introduce them. First, meet The Sassafras Union,

From left to right: Phil Salucci, Kate Feldtkeller, Benjamin Ayers,  Madalyn Hunt, Jaren Rowan, Joe Malfo

The Sassafras Union is a local band (for me that is) from Santa Maria, California. Not only is this group great, they are also all friends of mine. Ok so that may make be biased, but I do really love their talent. Sassafras has been together for about two years now and have a great fan base in our area. They are a mix of folk, indie, rock, blues, and americana. All of the members are incredible musicians and can play just about anything and everything. Phil is one of the vocalist and the guitar magician.  Kate is the violinist. Ben is the founder of Sassafras. He is a vocalist, guitarist, banjo(ist?), and pretty much anything else. Maddy is a vocalist, and also plays the cello. Jaren is the drummer and occasional glockenspiel player. And, Joe is the bass player. They have such great talent and work so well together and three of them are still in high school! They also have a facebook page here.

If you would like to take a listen here are the tracks from their EP.

Secondly is Briertone.

The concert was a release party for their new EP. This local band is a mix of indie, and southern rock. Here is their newest music video which also premiered at the concert. And like my last post's video, you can see the surrounding hills and raw country of my corner of the world.

Let me know what you are listening to, for I adore finding new music and greatly appreciate listening suggestions!

Here's to a great Wednesday evening!

History of Painters

Life has been going by at a speed that is too fast for my liking. October is here and I hope time slows a bit so that October loveliness can be enjoyed fully. As with many other bloggers, fall is my favorite season and I am so happy for its arrival.

On a different note, I have decided that I will make Mondays my music inspiration day. If I were to pick the one thing in this world that means the most to the health of my heart (besides the fellowship I share with people I love and adore, of course), it would be music. I love every thing about it, both listening and playing. I play the violin, a bit of piano, and I love to sing. I am also trying to teach myself the cello and guitar. But I find listening to music just as heart filling as playing it. So, I have come to decide that I will share the music that inspires and makes me happy.

I have decided to begin with local bands that I love from my area! For my first music post I have chosen not only a local favorite, but one of my absolute favorite musical acts period... History of Painters. They are a local band from San Luis Obispo, California. I can not say enough about how amazing these guys are! They play quite a few local gigs, but I hope they get more exposure, for they are truly talented.

This second video was filmed for a nationwide contest where they received  6th place! Also, you can get a peek at where I live in this second video for it was filmed on location here on the Central Coast of California! I am so blessed to call it home!
If you like what you here you can find them on their myspacereverbnation , or facebook pages.

There are few things that give me more pleasure than sharing musical findings with people. I would love to hear what you are listening too!
